Congreso Nacional del ACDA 201: Repertorio para Coros Mixtos y Femeninos

Imagina…una ciudad, cuatro días, más de 150 expositores, 49 presentaciones agotadoras, 47 coros, 42 sesiones informativas de interés, 25 sesiones de lectura de partituras a cargo de editores, 13 conciertos (muchos de ellos compuestos por 3 coros cada uno), 13 sesiones de lectura de partituras por cada tipo de coro, 13 mesas redondas, 5 coros internacionales, 4 coros de honor, 2 cultos religiosos, más de 5000 directores corales. Si puedes imaginártelo, entonces probablemente asististe a “Voices in the Wind” (‘Voces en el viento’), el congreso nacional del American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), celebrado a principios del mes de marzo en la ciudad de Chicago, Illinois.
El número total de partituras y compositores presentados en este congreso en los eventos antes mencionados es enorme. A continuación, se enumeran todas las piezas presentadas en los conciertos de la noche por los conjuntos de voces mixtas y coros femeninos. El repertorio del concierto de voces mixtas incluyó a 76 compositores (70 hombres, 6 mujeres) de 23 nacionalidades, incluyendo 24 estadounidenses, 8 alemanes y 7 compositores bálticos. Aproximadamente 60% del repertorio fue de compositores contemporáneos. Los textos de todas las lecturas del concierto abarcaron una amplia variedad de fuentes, pero sorprendentemente a muy pocos poetas vivos y mujeres autoras (1 en voces mixtas, 7 en mujeres). ¿Cuál fue el compositor más popular?
