Zsuzsanna Zsoltné Szesztay
Dr. Zsuzsanna Zsoltné Szesztay is an expert music educator and violin teacher at the Zoltán Kodály Music School in Debrecen, Hungary, and also a teacher-training professional at the Faculty of Music, University of Debrecen. She studied in Budapest and Pécs with prominent Hungarian figures from the world of music, and her special interests include solfeggio, voice training, chamber and orchestral music. Her professional awards include the Apáczai Csere János Award and the Zathureczky Ede Lifetime Achievement Award for her work furthering educational practice. She has also been a keen and active observer of Debrecen’s choir competitions since 1975. For many years she also assisted her husband, conductor Zsolt Szesztay in managing Debrecen’s local Lajos Bárdos Female Choir which won numerous prizes at various competitions and festivals. She has also been the donator of the “In Memoriam Zsolt Szesztay” Conductor’s Special Prize for the Béla Bartók Choir Competition since 2010.
